Q&A: How do I take care of my month olds nails ?

I've been filing them down but they're still getting a little long. They also have a little dirt or something under the nail. ? Thank you

Get some baby nail clippers & clip them. This will also pervent him from scratching his face.

get baby fingernail clippers and trim them

Unfortunately, infant's nails do grow extremely quick. Instead of filing i would suggest an infant nail clipper because the file might also be taking some skin of the finger tip, and if done frequently might eventually hurt her. As for the dirt, don't stick anything under the nail to get it out. When she's in her tub submerge her fingers in the water while she's bathing. If all of it doesn't come out, I wouldn't worry. Infants don't touch things that are extremely dirty or dangerously unsanitary, so it might just be dead skin or lint. Eventually it will come out.

Like everyone else says, you have to get the baby nail clippers and just go for it. The best time to clip is when they're sleeping because when they're that small, they usually don't wake up when you mess with them. It's a little scary at first, but you just have to be careful and do your best. It's better than them cutting themselves with their nails.
Good luck!

We cut ours with an infant nail clipper. If there's dirt, you can lightly scrub them with a soft brush.

i use baby nail clippers and after he has his bath and falls asleep I clip them, it's the easiest way ;0)

Blunt scissors are better than nail scissors at this age.
