All the Miss California fervor has me scratching my head. She's young, not very articulate, and not particularly talented. Why do people care what she thinks of gay marriage...or any other social issue for that matter? Is this all just Donald Trump fishing for some free publicity?

I don't understand why people were so upset that she doesn't support gay marriage. It's her own opinion which she is completely entitled to. Obviously if everybody supported gay rights, there wouldn't be an issue and then civil rights activists wouldn't have anything to argue about.

because she is in a position where she can voice her opinion to a large amount of people.. she may even be a role model to many young girls (unfortunately thats the type of society we live in)
therefore she needs to be careful with what she says and does because everything she does will be observed (and possibly emulated) by her admirers...
but for me, i couldnt care less what she thinks

One, the scandalmonger loser asshole idiot Hilton tainted the pageant by his presence alone, let alone be given a platform and credibility which turned the proceedings into a joke and the question should never have been asked if there was a specific answer and that one specific answer was the only one that was acceptable which makes it a non question...why ask something in the first place if an answer that disagrees with your own POV is determined to be wrong; how can an OPINION be wrong? And the question had no place in a beauty pageant anyway, what next, abortion questions? The whole thing was just ridiculous.

I think people are upset because the pagent is supposed to be wholesome with answers that dont stir up such controversy. People are also mad because she took those pics that are against her contract and make her look like a complete hypocrit in talking about her catholic values one minute and then having all those half-nude photos of her surface the next.
